Week 9 Wrap-up

My Vick in a Box (113.50) over House of Pain (85.88)

I have to admit, I had my doubts about My Vick in a Box, but in the end they really pulled it out... Brady, Moss, and Williams all did well for HoP, but it wasn't enough to top the monster game that Moss and Rivers had for MViaB. It probably would have helped if HoP started a kicker, but not enough to have mattered this week. On a more serious note, has anybody heard from HoP's owner in the last week...?

Don't these guys look happy?

CarJacker (114.32) over Horn Supremacy (101.70)

CarJackers continues their dominance through the regular season, while HS drops another close one. Not much you can do about this one if you're HS. G-Reg Olsen decides to wake up from fantasy football irrelevance, in a big way, by scoring 3 TDs. Even with poor performances from Megatron and LT, the Jackers are just too good. Brees has a good (not great) day for HS, but they just can't get enough production from their other players to nullify Olsen's monster day.

G-Reg and Cutler are developing quite a rapport...

Juggernauts (142.68) over Tackle Me Elmo (123.96)
The Jugges had a lot riding on the Seattle game and it seemed to pay off. Between Hasselbeck, Jones, and the Seattle D, they scored almost 60 points. Miles Austin was quiet for the Jugges, until he caught a 49 yard TD pass... Is there anyone in the world happier than this guy right now. TME put up a respectable day, with big games from the usual suspects (DeAngelo William, Joe Addai, and Chris Johnson), but the Packers D really let them down. Giving up 38 points to the Bucs and a rookie QB; that's just not going to get the job done. The loss of Owen Daniels at TE last week really hurt Elmo. Bo Scaife just can't put up the same production.

Hi. My name is Miles and I have a really good life.

Too Damn Lousy (97.58) over Injured Reserve (77.92)
TDL does it again. What did I say last week? The only number that matters in the one in the W column. Can't wait to read next week's previews... IR has to be disappointed by Colston's production on Sunday (1 catch for 45 yards). Colston dropped a few balls, including a TD pass, that had Brees screaming for the challenge flag. TDL pretty much owes the victory to Mike Sims-Walker and John Carney. As long as Sims-Walker can make curfew for the rest of the season, he should continue to put up monster numbers.

Have fun in Baltimore next week!

Jacko's Petting Zoo (135.98) over Spring Branch Vatos (90.12)
One of the few games I got right last week in the previews. Rodgers, Jackson, MJD, and Benson all contribute big games for Jacko, while SBV just can't manage enough points from his island of misfit toys. The Eagles surprised me with just how bad they looked on Sunday night, but in the end, the Eagles D still had just about as many points as Romo did. Sammie Stroughter catches a TD pass from Josh Freeman (who? what?), but still only manages 3 catches for 19 yards. Tedd Ginn Jr has 97 (return) yards, worth approximately 2 points. This could be the beginning of the end for the Vatos.

Wildcats (160.02) over Pure Misery (109.98)

What can I say? It was a good week to be a Wildcat. Anytime Warner throws for 5 TDs (as opposed to 5 interceptions the week before), it's going to be a big week for the Wildcats, especially if two of those TDs go to Fitzgerald. A solid contribution from the rest of the team allow the Cats to hold off the onslaught of Michael "The Burner" Turner, who rips off 166 yards and 2 TDs for PM.

Week 9 Previews

DISCLAIMER - All opinions expressed in this post are solely the opinions of the author and do not reflect the opinions of my wife, family, friends, or anyone else with credible football knowledge.

House of Pain (3-5) vs. My Vick in a Box (4-4)

House of Pain has been dealing with some crushing off-the-field issues this week. After watching the Phillies hand over the World Series title to the Evil Empire, it's easy to understand why their head might not be in this game. Hopefully, they can shake-off this shattering loss in time to pick up a kicker that is actually playing, as this match-up just might come down to a few points.

I imagine that these two teams will be watching the Pats-Fins game intently on Sunday. HoP has Ricky Run going in the game, while MViaB has Moss and Brown. I think Brady has a big game, it just depends on who's catching the ball on the other end... I'd still rather have the Brady side of the equation, regardless of who he's throwing to.

My Vick in a Box comes up short... how embarrassing: 69-70.

CarJacker (7-1) vs. Horn Supremacy (1-7)

Can Horn Supremacy make it two wins in a row and begin their epic climb from the fantasy cellar? Not this week. The scheduling gods once again do not smile on the Big Easy. The CarJackers are a legitimate 7-1. When the weakest players in your starting lineup are Megatron and LT, you're probably in for a good season (assuming Megatron is healthy this week and LT doesn't, well, suck). With Bob Sanders being placed on IR this week, the Indy D might not be as rock solid as they've been so far this year, but I really don't think it will come down to that.

For HS, Brees should have a monster game against Carolina, but the rest of the team is a roll of the dice. Housh, Henderson, Grant, Bradshaw, and F. Jones all have the potential for big games, but the chance of them all going off at the same time is slim. It think HS needs to change up their mojo with a name change. No offense, but Joe Horn and Supremacy haven't been used in the same sentence together in a LONG time. Maybe the Brees Ultimatum...

HS continues to bail water this week and just hopes the rain stops soon... 215-87.

Juggernauts (2-6) vs. Tackle Me Elmo (4-4)

La, la, la, la. La, la, la, la. Elmo's World! (This probably only makes sense if you have a 2-year old.) One thing that's for certain; with DeAngelo Williams, Joe Addai, and Chris Johnson, it's definitely Elmo's world and we're all just living in it. Palmer and OchoCinco didn't seem to struggle too badly against Baltimore in their last meeting, but this week might be different, as Baltimore is still stinging from their last defeat.

It looks like the Juggernauts have been shopping off the waiver wire and have come back with a pretty nice haul. Miles Austin has been ra-diculous lately, and if anyone on Dallas is going to have a good game, it's probably him. Jamaal Charles will be starting for the first time in place of Larry Johnson after his little Tweeting incident. LJ is an angry man... an angry, angry man. Charles will have an opportunity to make a name for himself against a suspect Jags D.

It's the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street this week. That's enough to push the scales in Elmo's favor for me. The number of the day is: 123-ABC.

Injured Reserve (4-4) vs. Too Damn Lousy (5-3)

Little known piece of trivia - Did you know that Cleveland is the only NFL city to have neither hosted nor sent a team to the Superbowl? Unlike the Cleveland Browns, TDL has actually been winning so far this season. TDL has managed a 5-3 record, despite putting up the forth lowest number of points. I don't need to remind you kids that, at this point in the season, the only number that counts is the one in the W column.

For TDL, the usually reliable Matt Ryan may struggle against a decent Redskins D this week. If he does, that could spell trouble for TDL. With both Barber and Mendenhall facing equally bad match-ups against Philly and Denver respectively, it could be a long day for TDL.

On the other side of the turf...this just in, Peyton Manning is good. So is Marques Colston. I think both of them have a monster day. Hightower and Forte will also be serviceable as they face off against each other.

At least Cleveland is on a bye week... IR wins: 6-0.

Spring Branch Vatos (5-3) vs. Jacko's Petting Zoo (5-3)

And I thought I had a bad draft.... SBV has had an impressive season so far, going 5-3, while scoring the second lowest number of points. Last week, reality started to set in for SBV as they put up a meager 62 points. Unfortunately, I don't think this week gets any better. The only positive I can see for this team is that at least they have Philly's D, so they can get some points for all of the interceptions Romo is going to throw. When you're starting the number 2 WR from Tampa Bay, you can only expect so much.

On the other side of the field, Aaron Rodgers should be able to throw all over a disappointing Bucs D. MJD will also light it up against the Chiefs.

SBV is going to have to seek therapy after what Jacko does to them... 6252009-77024.

Wildcats (4-4) vs. Pure Misery (4-4)

It's a good week to be a Wildcat. First Iowa, then Pure Misery... 17-10.
