Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Tackle Me Elmo vs. Jacko’s Petting Zoo

Tackle Me Elmo Draft – Depth, depth and more depth. That is what this team is built on. And that depth will help it win a good amount of games in this league.

Draft GradeA-

Jacko’s Petting Zoo Draft – Jeckyl and Hyde roster here. MoJo Drew is solid but he’s a little busted up to start the season and Portis could be good, but the starters at WR (Vincent Jackson and Santana Moss) have to be a bit concerning. Ced Benson and Percy Harvin will be starting on this team by season’s end though.

Draft Grade B+

Preview – The Tackle Me Elmo comeback tour starts off this week with a win over JackO.

Swami’s pickTackle Me Elmo 110 – Jacko’s Petting Zoo 100

Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Too Damn Lousy vs. Horn Supremacy

Too Damn Lousy Draft – Mr Wah-Wah-I-didn’t-want-the-first-pick still managed to pull out a decent draft from the looks of it. The only weak point could be TE as we still don’t know what kind of looks Fasano will get. Whether he shows up or not, TDL will be a contender.

Draft GradeA-

Horn Supremacy Draft – Runner up for best draft in the league only because they are starting Brent Celek (who?) at TE and the artist formerly known as Fast Willie Parker is the No 1 Flex option. But, there’s enough depth here to challenge for the title.

Draft GradeA

Preview – This is your marquis matchup of week 1. In the end, however, Drew Brees is going to lead the Supremacy to victory.

Swami’s pick – Too Damn Lousy 112 – Horn Supremacy 125

Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Injured Reserve vs. My Vick in a Box

Injured Reserve Draft – This sucks. I can’t make fun of the Injured Reserve draft this year except maybe their running back depth. Seriously guys, why couldn’t you pick Michael Crabtree or Matt Cassell?

Draft Grade B+

My Vick in a Box Draft – Here’s the league winner for the best name. I would have kicked it’s ass but Yahoo limits the characters in the team name thus not enabling me to use “Somewhere Over Dwayne Bowe.” As for the draft, noble effort at the 10 spot. Brandon Marshall is a high risk high reward pick, but over all very solid.

Draft GradeA-

Preview – Overall, MYiaB is the better team but the matchups favor IR this week. It’ll be close though.

Swami’s pickInjured Reserve 105 – My Vick in a Box 103

Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Juggernauts vs. Pure Misery

Juggernauts Draft – When Trent Edwards and Matt Hasselbeck are you two starting QB options, you really, really hope that you’ve got enough depth at the other positions to be able to compete effectively. Stud WRs? Check. Stud TE? Check. Stud RBs? Whoa there horsie. Frank Gore’s a good back and Larry Johnson is looking more like Grandmama and less like the guy who used to throw down the diamond cutter back in the day. Up and down year ahead.

Draft GradeB

Pure Misery – This is what a solid draft looks like. Turner and Jones to anchor the backs. Wayne and Holmes on the wings. A reborn T-gonz at the TE spot and McNabb gunning the rock. Add to the solid flex depth and Pure Misery receives the dreaded Swami’s “Best Draft” award. Sorry guys.

Draft GradeA+

Preview – At first look, this has the chance of being a slugfest, but don’t be fooled. Pure Misery takes this one going away.

Swami’s pick – Juggernauts 100 – Pure Misery 122

Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Carjacker vs. Spring Branch Vatos

Carjacker Draft – Change has come to America. After being known as the Freak Show since the inception of this league, Jim’s team takes on the moniker given to him by Microsoft Word’s spell checker as his team name. More change, he didn’t draft Brian Westbrook with his first round pick this year either instead going with the aging Ladanian Tomlinson. The RB depth after LT is precarious but the other parts of the puzzle are balanced out. This is a team that will make a run in the playoffs – I guess not everything has changed.
Draft GradeA-

Spring Branch Vatos Draft – Welcome to the league Vatos. I’m always a fan of adding someone who drafts a kicker in the SIXTH OF FIFTEEN round and is willing to pay the $200 entry fee into the league. Let’s not forget drafting Tight Ends back to back in the 4th and 5th rounds either. I’m just going to stop right there and say...good luck and god speed.

Draft GradeD

Preview – Don’t even bother looking at the Yahoo! score here because they don’t have any projections for Pierre Thomas who is nursing an injury. Even if he doesn’t make it, Carjacker will sub in a viable replacement and still smoke the Vatos.

Swami’s pickCarjacker 99 – Vatos 83

Draft Grades and Week 1 Preview – Wildcats vs. House of Pain

Wildcats Draft – The Cats went for the big gamble electing to pick two receivers and a really old quarterback not named Brett Favre in the top three rounds. This leaves the team with a running back platoon of Marshawn Lynch, Ray Rice, Derrick Ward, Lesean McCoy and Earnest Graham – basically a who’s who of who’s that? Desean Jackson is a great value pick late though. That being said, this team will need a lot of work through the air throughout the season and a downright miracle on Arizona’s bye week to pull out a good season.

Draft GradeC++

House of Pain Draft – Pretty much the exact opposite draft on the other side on the contest. HoP took two big guns at RB in Jacobs and Smith along with Tom Brady-Bundchen (the 70s TV show joke is not lost on me) early leaving them a receiving corps of Wes Welker and Hines Ward – basically two Oompa Loompa rejects. Which leads me to the evaluation of this team: “Little surprises around every corner, but nothing dangerous” – Willie Wonka.

Draft GradeB-

Preview – You gotta love the football gods for scheduling such easy matchups in Week 1 for two long term middle/bottom of the pack teams. Yahoo’s picking a 9 point Wildcats victory but the Swami’s calling the upset.

Swami’s pickHouse of Pain 105 – Wildcats 100
